We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Systems Engineering team. This role will be responsible for designing, developing and supporting software that enables laboratory workflows from assay development through commercial clinical testing. The successful candidate will develop front-end and back-end functionality within our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), built on the Salesforce platform, while also designing Python-based integration services that orchestrate laboratory instruments, automation equipment and third-party applications.
This is a highly cross-functional role working closely with Clinical Laboratory Operations, Assay Development, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Quality and Regulatory teams to deliver scalable, validated software solutions supporting a growing molecular diagnostics organization.

Responsibilities: Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
- Design, develop and maintain front-end and back-end functionality within the Lockbox LIMS platform (Salesforce)
- Develop new laboratory workflows supporting assay development, verification, validation and commercial testing
- Design intuitive user interfaces that improve laboratory productivity and user experience
- Implement workflow automation, business rules, reporting functionality and data model
- Administer and maintain the systems supporting laboratory software operations, including LIMS environments, application and integration servers, user access and permissions, environment configuration, upgrades, patching and backup
- Design and develop Python applications and services that integrate Lockbox with laboratory instrumentation and automation systems
- Develop robust interfaces between LIMS, laboratory devices, analysis software and third-party applications
- Support orchestration of automated laboratory workflows including instrument scheduling, sample tracking and workflow execution
- Develop monitoring, logging and troubleshooting tools for production laboratory systems
- Develop scalable, maintainable and well-tested software following software engineering best practices
- Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews and technical design discussions
- Manage source code using Git-based version control, applying branching strategies, pull request workflows and release tagging to maintain traceability of changes across development, validation and production environments
- Troubleshoot production issues and support continuous improvement initiative
- Partner with laboratory scientists, systems engineers and software developers to translate laboratory requirements into software solutions
- Work closely with Clinical Operations and Commercial teams to prioritize enhancements
- Support deployment of laboratory software to internal laboratories and external laboratory partners
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline
- 5+ years of professional software development experience
- Strong development skills in Python and JavaScript/Node.js, or demonstrated ability to quickly learn new programming languages and environments
- Experience with Git and modern software development practices
- Experience developing enterprise software applications
- Experience administering Linux and/or Windows server environments
- Experience with REST APIs and system integration
- Experience with SQL and relational database design
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment, partnering across software, laboratory, quality and operations functions, while also working independently and owning deliverables end to end
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
