Mercy BioAnalytics, Inc. is a pre-commercial biotechnology company committed to reducing suffering and saving lives through the early detection of cancer. We are looking for a passionate individual to join our Assay Development team, whose mission is to develop and validate novel clinical tests leveraging our Mercy Halo assay platform.

Responsibilities will include immunoassay execution and reagent preparation to support multiple R&D programs, as well as additional technical and operational support for assay development and technology transfer activities. The successful candidate may also contribute to Mercy’s IP portfolio through innovative and creative thinking and experimentation. Responsibilities

  • Execute novel immunoassays to support assay development activities including antibody screening/optimization, reagent qualification, clinical feasibility studies, and process development.
  • Prepare, characterize, and qualify antibody conjugates according to established SOPs and in line with QA/QC processes.
  • Utilize existing immunoassay platforms including ELISA, antibody arrays, western blot, and flow cytometry to characterize antibodies and biomarkers.
  • Support mammalian cell culture operation as needed.
  • Perform routine laboratory duties, such as preparing reagents, maintaining laboratory equipment, and keeping the laboratory clean and organized consistent with 5S principles.
  • Help write and review Technical Protocols, Study Reports, and Standard Operating Procedures, as well as maintain accurate records of experiments in line with quality requirements.
  • Stay informed regarding the research being performed internally and externally to drive research projects that inform biomarker discovery and selection, improve assay performance, and support corporate objectives.
  • Participate in internal scientific meetings to discuss project progress, review data, and identify optimization opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain good laboratory practices.
  • Contribute to the ideation and creation of posters and manuscripts.

      Requirements

      • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biological/Chemical Engineering, or similar life science discipline.
      • 1+ years of laboratory experience in assay or early product development in a biotech or pharma setting is required.
      • Proficiency with standard bioanalytical and molecular biology techniques including gel electrophoresis, western blotting, ELISA, qPCR, and absorbance spectroscopy.
      • Previous experience with protein bioconjugation techniques and familiarity with antibody purification methods is strongly preferred.
      • Previous experience with mammalian tissue culture is preferred but not required.
      • The ability to follow established SOPs with strict attention to detail.
      • Proficiency in collecting and accurately documenting experimental procedures and results is essential.  Familiarity with electronic lab notebook (ELN) or laboratory information management systems (LIMS) is strongly preferred.
      • The ability to work effectively and efficiently with other team members in a fast-paced and dynamic environment is essential.
      • Proficiency in software applications like Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
